What The Health? Teens Launch New Website With First Photovoice Challenge

Teens from the Oxford County Public Health group, What the Health? are proud to launch their new website – a place for youth-friendly health information – with a very special challenge for local youth. They are challenging Oxford County youth, ages 14 to 24, to share their ideas of what being physically active means to them through a photovoice competition. They are asking youth across the County to send in their pictures by visiting their new website (whatthehealth.ca) for their chance to win a $200 gift card to a local camera store.

The photovoice contest runs from May 1-24, 2012. Voting takes place May 25-31. The winning entry will be announced after May 31 via Facebook (facebook.com/whatthehealthca). To learn more, visit whatthehealth.ca.

The new What the Health? website was written and developed by local youth over the past year – sharing important local health information in a youth-friendly way. The website is home to information and resources on topics such as tobacco and alcohol use, stress, sleep habits and how to deal with the everyday challenges of being a teen.

The Challenge

Take pictures in Oxford County that represent what physical activity means to youth. Be original; we have a beautiful landscape in Oxford County and are excited to see how youth capture it. Youth can enter contest by submitting their photos from May 1-24. Voting on the What the Health? Facebook page, begins May 25 and runs until May 31. Anyone can vote on the photos.

Go to the What the Health? website, (whatthehealth.ca) for full contest details and how to enter.

The three winning photos will be announced after May 31, 2012. The grand prize winner will be featured on the What the Health? website and receive a $200 gift card to a camera store in Oxford County.
