Dietitians at Health Unit Launch Blog to Help Busy Families Make Healthy Meals
The Public Health Dietitians at the Perth District Health Unit have launched a blog to reach out to Perth County families with tips for feeding busy families. Called Diaries of a Dietitian: Exposing Family Secrets, the blog will share tips and recipes for feeding families based on how the dietitians feed their own families.
“We get many requests from parents for tips on all kinds of food related topics, such as how to get kids to eat more vegetables, lunch packing ideas, quick and easy meals and new recipes,” says Shannon Edmonstone, Public Health Nutritionist. “The blog is a way for us to respond to these requests and share them with many people across Perth County.”
The blog will feature a Q&A section, how-to videos, recipes and a bi-weekly post on a specific topic. Edmonstone explained that the dietitians will share what worked as well as what didn’t work for them when it comes to feeding their families. “We’re dietitians but we’re parents too and we don’t always serve perfect healthy meals and our kids don’t always eat everything we make. We’re going to be straight up and share it all!”
