Breastfeeding Mothers: Come Celebrate!
World Breastfeeding Week is being celebrated across Canada from October 1 to 7, 2012.
Mothers in Perth County who are breastfeeding, along with their families, are invited to celebrate during the Breastfeeding Buddies programs in Stratford and North Perth. The celebrations will include discussion about this year’s theme, “Understanding the Past--Planning the Future,” as well as refreshments and a gift for babies.
Breastfeeding Buddies are drop-in groups that meet monthly so breastfeeding mothers can find support and encouragement on their breastfeeding journeys. Breastfeeding Buddies also has an online presence in the form of a Facebook page hosted by local parent, Tanya Chambers. Click here to "like" our page.
“Research shows that mothers are more successful at breastfeeding and do it for longer when they have better access to local supports and information,” says Dianne Windisch, Public Health Nurse. “These drop-in programs and the online support group are tools that help moms to successfully breastfeed.”
