thehealthline.ca Information Network Wins Sector Innovation Award

thehealthline.ca is proud to announce that thehealthline.ca Deployment Team was selected as the winner of the Sector Innovation Award category at this year’s Ontario Association of Community Care Access Centres (OACCAC) Awards for Excellence banquet. The event, held June 10, acknowledges individuals and teams from the Ontario’s CCACs for achieving excellence in patient care, system partnerships and overall health-care system improvements.

The Deployment Team – comprised of members from thehealthline.ca Information Network, the OACCAC and each of Ontario’s 14 CCACs – was honoured for working tirelessly during the past year to put a wealth of electronic health service information at the fingertips of every Ontarian by deploying thehealthline.ca in each of the 14 LHINs across the province.

“We are grateful to have received this recognition,” said Michael Robbins, project coordinator with thehealthline.ca Information Network. “It could not have been achieved without the passionate commitment of the team and many other partners – all dedicated to driving results and bringing about positive change.”

Thanks to the deployment team, 14 regional thehealthline.ca sites, each accessible through a single provincial portal, now exist. The sites are connected to a single provincial database with more than 42,000 health-service provider profiles. Providers can submit updates to their service profiles at any time, to help ensure the database is always accurate and up-to-date. The innovative new system:

  • Enables people to find services quickly and easily, reducing demand on other system resources
  • Gives health professionals a reliable source of managed information about local and provincial health resources for their patients
  • Provides health and community service providers a way to profile their services free of charge

“It is a privilege to help people get reliable health and community information, so that no matter where they live, they can find services to help them stay healthy and get well when they are sick.”
