Ontario Students Lead The Way
Ontario students are ranked amongst the highest achievers in the country.
According to the Pan-Canadian Assessment Program's 2010 report (PCAP 2010), Ontario students were the only group to perform above the Canadian average in all three areas of math, reading and science.
In fact, Ontario students scored significantly higher than the Canadian average in all three subjects and were first when it came to reading - the only students to perform above the national average in that area.
Ontario's plan for jobs and the economy includes investing in education to build the best educated workforce in the world. Initiatives like smaller class sizes, parenting and family literacy centres, and online tutoring are helping students succeed and securing a brighter future for all Ontarians.

Quick Facts:
- The Council of Ministers of Education, Canada administered the assessment to a random sampling of about 32,000 Grade 8 students from 10 provinces and Yukon.
- The OECD's Programme for International Student Assessment ranked Ontario students among the top 10 readers in the world.
- According to Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) results, 69 per cent of Ontario's Grade 3 and 6 students met or exceeded the provincial standard in reading, writing and math in 2010-11 - a 15 percentage point increase since 2002-03.
