Ambulances for Ukraine Delegation to Thank Oxford County for Ambulance Donation

Oxford County will be formally acknowledged on September 13 at County Council for its ambulance donation to the humanitarian effort

On Wednesday, September 13, a delegation at County Council from Ambulances for Ukraine will formally thank and present a plaque to Oxford County Public Health & Emergency Services for its donation of an ambulance to the humanitarian effort.

On January 27, 2017, the Embassy of Canada in Ukraine, along with the Ukrainian Canadian Congress and the International Charitable Foundation “Caritas Ukraine,” donated and delivered 10 Canadian ambulances through the Ambulances for Ukraine project to medical institutions throughout Eastern Ukraine. The donated ambulances will support hospitals, mobile clinics, and emergency and disaster medicine.

WHEN: September 13, 2017 – 9:30 a.m.
WHERE: Council Chamber, Oxford County Administration Building, 21 Reeve St, Woodstock
  • David Mayberry, Warden, Oxford County
  • Ben Addley, Manager of Paramedic Services, Oxford County Public & Emergency Services
  • John Holuk, Ambulances for Ukraine

Conflict in Eastern Ukraine has displaced 1.7 million people and crippled the local health care system. Ambulances for Ukraine was established in early 2015 in response to the critical need for high-tech medical ambulances created by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and the resulting humanitarian crisis. The project was initiated by the Saskatchewan-Ukraine Relations Advisory Committee (SURAC), and has grown to be national in scope. Ambulances for Ukraine is now led by the Ukrainian Canadian Congress “Ukraine Appeal,” in partnership with Paramedic Chiefs of Canada.
