Community Volunteer Income Tax Program Coordinator Needed

Every year, Goodwill hosts a free community income tax clinic during March and April. Low income individuals from the community come to the clinic and a volunteer works with them to submit their taxes online. Filing one’s taxes is an important opportunity for low income Canadians to receive tax benefits for which they are eligible. Certain tax returns can significantly boost the income of low income individuals and families.
The free clinic is run in partnership with the Canada Revenue Agency who helps to screen, register, and train volunteers to complete on-line tax preparations for low income Canadians, including people with disabilities, single parents, seniors and new Canadians. Our clinic serves about 1,000 families each year.

The Volunteer Goodwill Community Tax Clinic Coordinator will proactively research key sectors and media outlets, market and recruit quality volunteers for the 2017 Tax Clinic. They will coordinate and assist with on-boarding of the volunteers in compliance with Canada Revenue guidelines. The Coordinator will review and help to update Tax Clinic Program processes to optimize efficiency and accuracy during the very busy tax season. They will work out of the Shared Services office at 255 Horton Street 1 to 2 days per week for the duration of the volunteer period.

The following background experience is an asset to this role:

  • Event Planning

  • Critical thinking, problem solving, initiative
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision
