HPHA and SGH Invite Media to CT Scanner Ribbon Cutting

On March 9, 2018 the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance and Stratford General Hospital Foundation invites you to attend a ribbon cutting for our new Computed Tomography (CT) Scanner!

Through generous support from the Stratford General Hospital Foundation, HPHA has purchased a GE Healthcare Revolution HD CT Scanner to replace its current machine which is over 10 years old and approaching end of life.

CT is an imaging technology where a narrow beam of x-rays is quickly rotated around a patient’s body. It generates cross-sectional “slices” which can be combined to create a three-dimensional image, allowing Radiologists to peer deeper into the body. CT scans can help diagnose a wide variety of diseases and conditions.

The new CT scanner will mean patients are exposed to 40 to 70 per cent less radiation compared to the current unit, while also allowing hospital staff to conduct more detailed exams at a much quicker pace-- an important feature for patients who require multiple CT Scans.

The scanner cost $1.1 million, of which the foundation has already raised $950,000 from generous donors. There is no government funding for the purchase of a CT Scanner. The acquisition was completed in the context of a larger, five-year, $25-million capital campaign the foundation is leading to cover the hospital’s medical equipment needs.

Please join us as we celebrate this state-of-the art technology with our staff, donors and community.

Date:March 9, 2018
Location: Stratford General Hospital. 46 General Hospital Dr, CT Suite (E1-758C)

Please RSVP to this event by contacting Amanda Dobson by email at, or via telephone 519-272-8210 ext 2435.
