For six hours, on one day, people from across our region will take part in an experience of a lifetime - engaging in a compelling fun fitness event, they will "bust-a-move" to positively impact breast health in our community.

Today, St. Joseph's Health Care Foundation announced the launch of their new fundraising event Bust a Move for Breast Health London. The announcement was made during the hospital's official opening of the new Breast Care Centre at St. Joseph's Hospital.

The national fitness extravaganza, to be held April 6, 2013 at the London Convention Centre, is a first for Southwestern Ontario and will be pivotal to increasing awareness of breast care and health issues for both women and men across the region. The event will raise significant dollars to support medical equipment, patient care and comfort items, and research in support of St. Joseph's new Breast Care Centre.

“London hasn't seen an event quite like Bust a Move and we are thrilled to bring it to our community,” says Michelle Campbell, Foundation President and CEO. “Not only will it be a day of fun and fitness with friends, it will have a lasting impact on the thousands that seek care at St. Joseph's each year.”

Bust a Move is a team event, during which participants will 'get their groove on' by taking part in fun fitness sessions choreographed by leading fitness experts. The final exercise session will be led by a celebrity, to be announced later this year, who will help provide the motivation to enjoy and complete the event.

“It's a celebration of breast health and a chance to make a real difference in our community and have fun while doing it,” says event chair, and Foundation Board member Frank Longo. “There are already some great community partners who have taken the pledge, and are ready to have some fun, and we welcome others to join us and make a difference.”
