26th Annual Geriatric Medicine Refresher Day

The 2012 conference, A Life Well Lived - Current Issues at the End of Life, was a conference to remember! Included in the day's itinerary were two extremely innovative and inspirational plenary speakers, Professor Meredith Levine and Dr. Mark Nowaczynski. Professor Levine is a UWO Journalism Professor and former CBC national radio producer who presented her journey in co-producing the online series, "A Good Death." Dr. Nowaczynski is a medical physician and the subject of his Gemini Award winning National Film Board of Canada documentary, "House Calls," that documents the life story and history of frail housebound seniors in Toronto.

An all-star line-up of exceptional workshop speakers presented on issues pertinent to a wide range of care providers including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists, dietitians, psychologists, social workers, researchers, educators, OTs, PTs, SLP's, RT's (and other therapists), discharge planners, as well as people serving primarily in administrative positions. Hot topics ranging from communication issues in dementia to caregiver stress to palliative care in long term care were explored with multiple opportunities for discussion and networking.
