CMHA Middlesex

CMHA Middlesex proudly offers a continuum of community-based mental health mental health supports for individuals 16 and older across London, Strathroy, Exeter and Goderich.

My Sisters’ Place is a program of CMHA Middlesex and is many things to the hundred plus women who walk through its doors each day. It is safety. It is service. It is sisterhood.

While women who access My Sisters’ Place range in age from 16 – 70 and come from diverse backgrounds, they do share some common barriers to well-being. Most have experienced abuse, trauma and isolation. Many are homeless, are at risk of homelessness, or are street involved. More than 80% have mental health issues. Their lives are complicated by poverty, health concerns and addiction.

All are striving to gain control of their lives and realize their potential.


Position:  Transitional Support Worker

Region:  London and Middlesex

Description:  We are currently seeking to expand our pool of Relief Transitional Support Workers at My Sisters’ Place. Working varying hours in our Day, Evening, and Weekend Programs, Relief staff perform duties and responsibilities consistent with providing a safe and welcoming environment to women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. We are currently seeking candidates with availability for Monday to Friday daytime shifts. Experience working with women who live with multiple challenges including mental illness, marginalization, poverty, woman abuse/trauma, homelessness and substance abuse is an asset and a university degree or college diploma in social services or a related field, or working towards completion is necessary to perform the duties required. While Relief staff have flexibility in choosing shifts that suit their schedules, a commitment to accepting a minimum four shifts per month is required to remain on the Relief list.

Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months. In order to avoid delays in beginning a position, interested applicants who reside in the City of London and are in need of a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) are encouraged to apply for one as soon as possible as processing through the London Police Service is currently taking several weeks.

The rate of pay for this position is $15.00 per hour and Relief staff are eligible to apply for internal postings after completing three months in their Relief role.
