Middlesex Centre Family Medicine Clinic

Family Practice Clinic in a teaching environment.

Position:  Register Practical Nurse

Region:  London and Middlesex, Huron and Perth

Description:  

  • Reports to Executive Director and MCFMC Partnership
  • Clinic nursing duties providing primary health care to the entire patient population. Utilizing the nursing process, assess the needs of the patient and the family and facilitate interventions to improve health outcomes in collaboration with all team members.
  • Provide vacation coverage for Wing Nurses and provide support for reception.
  • Hours: 8:30 am – 5:00 pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday; 11:30 am – 4:30 pm Wednesday (off site); 9:00 am – 1:00 pm Friday 

Responsibilities: 

  • Follow the MCFMC privacy and confidentiality act with extreme care.
  • Patient Care
  • Triage calls and walk-ins
  • ECG
  • Support Team’s telephone messages
  • Maintain Labs/ Procedures – requisitions and reconciling for team’s patients
  • Ordering medical supplies
  • Stock rooms
  • Nurse’s Billings
  • Preventative Care - tracking
  • Coverage for time off and vacations of Wings
  • Daily/ weekly Scheduler review
  • Additional Clinic responsibilities as needed. 

Qualifications: 

  • Diploma in Practical Nursing from an accredited college (RPN).
  • A friendly, compassionate, caring individual committed to providing exceptional healthcare to all patients of MCFMC as an integral member of the healthcare team.
  • The RPN has the ability to work independently, be self-directed and work as part of the health care team.
  • The RPN demonstrates excellent communication skills to adapting communication styles to meet the needs of patients, team members and community partners.
  • The RPN has effective organization, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, and is able to participates in program development, research and teaching as needed.
  • The RPN is accountable for providing high quality care according to the College of Nurses of Ontario Standards of Practice and maintains current CNO Registration.
  • Must be adept in the use of Microsoft Office, internet and email, and helpful if familiar with Accuro software.
