Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder - South West

Women who consume alcohol while pregnant risk having a child affected by Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). Children with FASD may have deficiencies in growth; characteristic facial features; and impairment to the central nervous system, resulting in intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, memory difficulties and difficulty understanding cause and effect. The developmental problems associated with FASD can be helped by early and supportive intervention.
