Nursing can be provided in a home, work or school setting to people of all ages with a wide range of health issues. Therapy, personal support and home support may also be offered. The type of care available can range from respite, palliative, occupational and physical therapy, rehabilitation, homemaking, personal care, speech and language, dietitian services, social work, oxygen and respiratory and foot care.
Nursing and other home health care services may be purchased directly by an individual, covered by private insurance plans or publicly funded. In Ontario, Community Care Access Centres handle publicly funded home health care.
