Update on the Clinton Public Hospital Restoration Project

Work is underway at Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance's (HPHA) Clinton Public Hospital after damages occurred to portions of the original plaster ceiling of the second floor in December 2018.

Based on initial findings, the timeframe to repair the ceiling on the second floor, which is home to Surgical Services, smallTALK and the hospital's Board and Conference Rooms, has the work extending to late May. The ceilings of the Operating Rooms were not affected although the proximity of these rooms to, and dust and vibration from, the construction area make it necessary to close these rooms for the duration of the restoration.

The majority of the surgical patients impacted by the closure of the Operating Rooms were able to have their surgeries scheduled at HPHA's Stratford General Hospital. Equipment and some staff have been temporarily relocated to the Stratford General Hospital during the duration of the restoration. Once the project is completed, the equipment and staff will return to the Clinton Public Hospital.

Patients of the smallTALK pre-school speech and language program have been attending at HPHA's Seaforth Community Hospital.

Given the time of year and age of the building, extensive abatement cleaning of the attic space has been required. It is anticipated that clearance on the abatement process will be received and construction will be able to start the week of February 11, 2019.

Further updates will be provided as the project progresses.
