Listowel Wingham Hospital Alliance

The Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance was formed on July 1, 2003 as a partnership between Listowel Memorial Hospital and Wingham and District Hospital. We share a common management structure with one CEO. We have a commitment to partnership and common Mission, Vision and Values. The Alliance Board consists of both hospital boards combined. We look for opportunities to create and share services and programs across our two communities and to look for creative ways to link to our community partners.

The Listowel Memorial Hospital has been providing acute care and complex continuing care services to the residents of North Perth and the hospital’s catchment area since 1919. Our fully accredited hospital offers a wide range of primary and secondary services including 24-hour emergency services. In-patient and out-patient care, specialist clinics and supportive diagnostic services. The Hospital has an active staff of 10 Family Practitioners as well as several consultant staff.

Hospital services include:

  • Emergency, Operating Rooms, Diagnostic and Ambulatory Care Units (December 2007)
  • Maternal/Newborn Unit
  • Diabetes/Nutrition Counseling
  • Speech-Language
  • Physiotherapy
  • Breast Health Centre
  • Fully integrated electronic patient health record with Family Health Team and Physician offices.

The Wingham and District Hospital is a modern, progressive acute care facility providing medical, surgical, obstetrical, paediatric, chronic and rehabilitation bed and other services, including 24-hour emergency coverage.

Hospital services include:

  • Emergency department with 24-hour on-call coverage
  • Rehabilitation department including physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech language pathology
  • Multiple outpatient specialist clinics held on a regular basis to provide local service
  • Affiliation with London Regional Cancer Centre enabling chemotherapy treatment to be provided locally
  • Many community health related education programs
  • Fully integrated electronic patient health record with Family Health Team and Physician offices.


Position:  Medical Devices Reprocessing Department Technician

Region:  Huron and Perth

Description:  The Medical Devices Reprocessing Department (MDRD) Technician is responsible for the sterilization of Medical supplies used throughout the hospital facility.

This is part-time position that is anticipated to begin immediately. The MDRD functions Monday to Friday, but the hours of work are subject to change.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide sterilized and clean instruments, ridged scopes, flexible scopes, bundles etc. for the OR on a daily basis.
  • Demonstration of adherence to the CSAO standards in daily practice
  • Provide sterilized and clean equipment to all areas of the hospital.
  • Documentation of all processes completed MDRD
  • Keep up to date in continual changes in the processing of instruments and equipment.
  • Know categories of surgical instrumentation.
  • Have a good working knowledge of medical supplies and sterilization equipment required including biological and chemical sterilization indicators.
  • Able to operate and understand steam and sterilization procedures.

Qualifications:

  • High School Graduation Diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of CSAD Course
  • 3 to 6 months of Medical Device Reprocessing Department experience in an acute care facility preferred
  • Knowledge of MDRD equipment and devices an asset
  • Moderate physical effort
  • Average degree of mental effort and analysis


Salary:  $26.59 - $28.21 per hour

Terms of Employment:  Part-time
