The Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance was formed on July 1, 2003 as a partnership between Listowel Memorial Hospital and Wingham and District Hospital. Position: Medical Devices Reprocessing Technician

LOCATION: Wingham, Ontario
POSITION: Medical Devices Reprocessing Technician
UNIT: Operating Room
STATUS: Casual
START DATE: As soon as possible
SALARY RANGE: $29.04 - $30.86 per hour
POSITION SUMMARY:
The MDRD Technician is responsible for the sterilization of Medical supplies used throughout the hospital facility.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Graduation Diploma or equivalent
- Completion of Medical Device Reprocessing Techniques Course
- 6 months of Medical Device Reprocessing Department experience in an acute care facility preferred
- Knowledge of MDRD equipment and devices an asset
EFFORT:
- Moderate Physical Effort
- Average degree of mental effort and analysis
POSITION-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
- Provide sterilized and clean instruments, ridged scopes, flexible scopes, bundles etc. for the OR on a daily basis as well as all areas of the hospital
- Demonstration of adherence to the CSAO standards in daily practice
- Documentation of all processes completed in MDRD
- Maintain equipment with, daily and weekly checks and document
- Know categories of surgical instrumentation
- Good working knowledge of medical supplies and sterilization equipment required including biological and chemical sterilization indicators
- Able to operate and understand steam and sterilization procedures
- Monitor MDRD, OR and OR Bundle Room for temperature, and humidity, and record.
- Assist turning over OR rooms between OR cases
HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday day shift position. Hours subject to change. Ability to work all shifts, weekends and holidays.
Salary: $29.04 - $30.86
