Blood and Marrow Transplant Program - Inpatient Oncology
London Health Sciences Centre is seeking a Temporary Full-Time Nurse Practitioner to join our dynamic team. The Nurse Practitioner is a self-directed advanced practice nurse prepared at the graduate and post-graduate level, who demonstrates a high level of autonomy working to scope, both independently and within a collaborative practice model. Using advanced assessment skills and a sound knowledge of clinical therapeutics, the NP demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge base in Hematology Oncology and exhibits a high degree of clinical competence in caring for Stem Cell Transplant recipients.
The NP in the Blood and Marrow Transplant Program will report to the Director of Regional Cancer Services & Inpatient Oncology and will work collaboratively with members of the Division of Hematology. The NP will interact daily with the interdisciplinary team to manage, direct and provide comprehensive care for a select patient population. The NP works with key stakeholders to provide advanced care that optimizes patient outcomes and enhances safety, effectiveness and accessibility. The NP in this program will engage in scholarly activities and advance knowledge by providing clinical leadership, identify opportunities for improving patient care, advancing best practices, promoting professional education and engaging in research.

Description: With a focus on service excellence and patient safety, principal responsibilities include:
- Conduct comprehensive health assessments, including detailed histories and physical examinations, for patients undergoing stem cell transplant or cellular therapy.
- Diagnose and manage a wide range of health problems related to hematology/oncology and stem cell transplant care within full scope.
- Prescribe and manage medications, order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests, and initiate appropriate therapies within clinical privileges.
- Provide direct clinical care, including acute management of complications related to stem cell transplant and cellular therapies.
- Develop and implement educational systems for patients, families, and staff regarding transplant processes, side effects, and post-transplant care.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, pharmacists, social workers, and other allied health professionals to ensure coordinated, high-quality care.
- Serve as a consultant and resource for nursing and medical staff in the area of stem cell transplantation and cellular therapy.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, research, and educational activities related to the Blood and Marrow Transplant program.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of all care provided and education delivered.
- Mentor students and new staff and participate in ongoing professional development.

Salary: $59.89 - $82.35
Terms of Employment: Temporary Full-Time
