The Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance was formed on July 1, 2003 as a partnership between Listowel Memorial Hospital and Wingham and District Hospital. We share a common management structure with one CEO. We have a commitment to partnership and common Mission, Vision and Values. The Alliance Board consists of both hospital boards combined. We look for opportunities to create and share services and programs across our two communities and to look for creative ways to link to our community partners.
The Listowel Memorial Hospital has been providing acute care and complex continuing care services to the residents of North Perth and the hospital’s catchment area since 1919. Our fully accredited hospital offers a wide range of primary and secondary services including 24-hour emergency services. In-patient and out-patient care, specialist clinics and supportive diagnostic services. The Hospital has an active staff of 10 Family Practitioners as well as several consultant staff.
Hospital services include:
- Emergency, Operating Rooms, Diagnostic and Ambulatory Care Units (December 2007)
- Maternal/Newborn Unit
- Diabetes/Nutrition Counseling
- Speech-Language
- Physiotherapy
- Breast Health Centre
- Fully integrated electronic patient health record with Family Health Team and Physician offices.
The Wingham and District Hospital is a modern, progressive acute care facility providing medical, surgical, obstetrical, paediatric, chronic and rehabilitation bed and other services, including 24-hour emergency coverage.
Hospital services include:
- Emergency department with 24-hour on-call coverage
- Rehabilitation department including physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech language pathology
- Multiple outpatient specialist clinics held on a regular basis to provide local service
- Affiliation with London Regional Cancer Centre enabling chemotherapy treatment to be provided locally
- Many community health related education programs
- Fully integrated electronic patient health record with Family Health Team and Physician offices.
Position: Dietary Aide
Region: Huron and Perth
Description: The Nutrition Assistant I is responsible for the service of meals, including therapeutic diets, special patient orders and hospitality/retail items. The NAI communicates with patients concerning food preferences from the semi-selective menu at the point of service and maintains open communication with the NFS team, Manager of NFS and/or Clinical Dietitian as appropriate. The NAI is also responsible for nourishments and snacks consistent with therapeutic diets and patient orders, and where no specific orders exist, common nourishments will be provided in patient kitchenettes. The NAI is expected to maintain a safe, clean and presentable work area in order to prevent cross-contamination and to maintain general safety in the NFS department.
This is a part-time position that is anticipated to begin on March 4, 2026. The successful candidate will have the ability to 7am-3pm, 7:30am-1:30pm,
11am-7pm, and 3pm– 7pm, including holidays and weekends.
Responsibilities:
- Compile forecast sheets and prepares snacks, desserts using the therapeutic diet census system
- Review patient diet sheets, set up tray labels and take the burlodge
carts to the patient units, enter diet changes into the computer system
as known
- Adhere to all NFS policies and IDDSI guidelines
- Prepare for catering, vending, and cafeteria service as appropriate
- Check and monitor food temperatures and time in order Monitor best
before dates; dispose when appropriate; rotate by first in first out
- Exhibits customer service skills
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 Secondary School Diploma
- Certificate in Safe Food Handling
- 3-6 months previous related experience; healthcare foodservice experience preferred with a working knowledge of therapeutic diets.
- Moderate physical effort
- Average degree of mental effort and analysis
Salary: $26.70 - $28.38 per hour
Terms of Employment: Part-time
