Position:  Registered Practical Nurse - Occupational Health & Safety

Region:  London and Middlesex

Description:  Occupational Health & Safety

The Registered Practical Nurse in Occupational Health & Safety is accountable for the delivery of primary care services and the coordination of employee-focused health and safety programs within a multi-disciplinary team that is collectively responsible for the delivery of comprehensive occupational health and safety services.

What we offer: Regular Part-Time

Rate of Pay: $37.10 per hour - $37.77 per hour
Part-time employees receive a percentage in lieu of vacation and benefits, providing additional compensation on top of regular wages

Hours of work: No guarantee of hours
Part-time employees will have the opportunity to pick up additional shifts based on unit operational needs and availability

Qualifications:
  • Current Certificate of General Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers course: BLS-HCP(C) and valid first aid certificate
  • Demonstrated ability to practice to full scope of competency
  • Two (2) years recent Occupational Health nursing experience
  • Recent experience and knowledge of administering immunization according to the Canadian Immunization Guide preferred
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation including Occupational Health & Safety Act, Public Hospitals Act (Communicable Disease Surveillance Protocols), Workplace Safety & Insurance Act and Ontario Human Rights Code
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office applications (Word & Excel); knowledge of Parklane system preferred
  • Well-developed patient assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to practice effectively in a collaborative interdisciplinary team setting
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adaptable in a busy environment
  • Ability to function autonomously and to adapt to changing situations and varying workload
  • Commitment to the achievement of goals and objectives in patient care
  • Proven problem solving, critical thinking and decision making skills
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency with Automated Clinical Systems
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's vision, purpose and values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
