The Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance was formed on July 1, 2003 as a partnership between Listowel Memorial Hospital and Wingham and District Hospital. We share a common management structure with one CEO. We have a commitment to partnership and common Mission, Vision and Values. The Alliance Board consists of both hospital boards combined. We look for opportunities to create and share services and programs across our two communities and to look for creative ways to link to our community partners.
The Listowel Memorial Hospital has been providing acute care and complex continuing care services to the residents of North Perth and the hospital’s catchment area since 1919. Our fully accredited hospital offers a wide range of primary and secondary services including 24-hour emergency services. In-patient and out-patient care, specialist clinics and supportive diagnostic services. The Hospital has an active staff of 10 Family Practitioners as well as several consultant staff.
Hospital services include:
• Emergency, Operating Rooms, Diagnostic and Ambulatory Care Units (December 2007)

• Speech-Language

The Wingham and District Hospital is a modern, progressive acute care facility providing medical, surgical, obstetrical, paediatric, chronic and rehabilitation bed and other services, including 24-hour emergency coverage.
Hospital services include:
• Emergency department with 24-hour on-call coverage
• Rehabilitation department including physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech language pathology
• Multiple outpatient specialist clinics held on a regular basis to provide local service
• Affiliation with London Regional Cancer Centre enabling chemotherapy treatment to be provided locally

Position: Clinical Informatics Specialist
Region: Huron and Perth
Description: The Clinical Informatics Specialist serves as the liaison between the hospital’s clinical areas and the clinical informatics/Information Technology Services department. This includes the primary responsibility of determining the needs and requirements for clinical applications in acute and ambulatory healthcare settings. The Clinical Informatics Specialist will support and participate in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of automated clinical systems. This individual will work with staff and physicians to optimize adoption and standardization of clinical systems through education and training, workflow/process analysis, quality outcomes, and providing support in accordance with organizational goals.
This is a temporary, full-time position that is anticipated to begin April 1, 2026 and extend through December 31, 2027. The successful candidate will be available Monday through Friday for 37.5 hours per week.
Responsibilities:
- System support and education; system workflow and analysis, planning and development of clinical information technologies
- Primary contact for system upgrades and new software testing and
implementation. Participates in performance testing exercises in
conjunction with super users and the ITS Performance team.
- Logs, tracks, escalates and facilitates resolution of system issues,
and communicates with user to ensure appropriate understanding and
acceptance of solution
- Performs Proof of Concept “build” in collaboration with ITS staff
and clinical resources, and demonstrate the proof of concept to clinical
partners for approval/modification. Identifies opportunities for
extension of production systems to meet new or changing client needs.
Trains, educates and instructs clinical users on features, operation and
usage of software systems
- Works collaboratively to design, lead and facilitates the CI
centralized and program education using sic step approach to curriculum
development
- Works with users to recommend system configuration modification to
support evolving client needs. Works closely with other members of
ITS/CI to ensure technology solutions function optimally within the
integrated suite of relevant applications
- Works with software application vendor to understand and influence
future directions and functionality of the software, and how they can
help to continually meet user needs
- Leads the integration between clinical areas and ITS regarding the
development and translation of business of clinical needs, using the
appropriate reporting tools and methodologies. Collaborates with and
leads the mapping of workflow processes in partnership with stakeholders
to ensure the success of and optimization of new or modified clinical
information systems.
- In collaboration with CI team, develops an annual CI plan aligned
with the strategic plan with measureable goals and objectives to meet
the Clinical Informatics mandate. Involved in software application
implementation projects – development and design, responsible for
monitoring daily tasks achievement, outcomes and issues.
- Assists with establishing and maintaining a structured schedule for ongoing CI initiatives
- Provides support to identify/recommend and/or implement quality improvement initiatives e.g. audits, outcomes of projects
- Assist clinical areas/users to transition from implementation to ongoing production support
- Maintains current knowledge-based augmented by keeping abreast of
new technologies in the field of clinical informatics and associated
software by (but not limited to) e.g. participating in Cerner
Illuminations sessions
- Demonstrates effective adult learning principles and teaching skills
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in a health-related field
- Minimum 5 years but less than 7 years’ experience in health care
- Experience with Cerner clinical application systems is an asset. Applications of Adult learning principles is an asset
- Minimal physical effort
- High degree of mental effort and analysis
Salary: $41.41 - $51.75 per hour (5 step grid based on exp
