The Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance was formed on July 1, 2003 as a partnership between Listowel Memorial Hospital and Wingham and District Hospital. We share a common management structure with one CEO. We have a commitment to partnership and common Mission, Vision & Values. The Alliance Board consists of both hospital boards combined. Position: Registered Nurse
Region: Huron and Perth
Description: POSITION SUMMARY:
The Registered Nurse promotes and restores patients' health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with patients, physicians and multidisciplinary team members; providing physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families; supervising assigned team members.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Diploma/Degree from a recognized College/University, BScN preferred
- Specialized certifications and courses related to area of specialization as required
- BCLS and ACLS
- PALS/ENCP Certification
- Basic Cardiac Arrhythmias Certification, Defibrillator Certification
- 15 Lead ECG Interpretation Certification
- Palliative Care Education preferred
- Critical Care Course preferred
- CAN Gerontology, Med/Surg and/or Cardiovascular Certification preferred
- Demonstrated appropriate management of delirium in the acute care / post-acute care setting preferred
- Two years related nursing experience working in acute, long term care or community setting preferred
- Working knowledge of Cerner software computer applications information system and related peripheral hardware preferred
EFFORT:
- High degree of physical effort
- High degree of mental effort and analysis
POSITION-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
- Ability to organize, problem solve, critical thinking and decision making.
- Demonstrated application of role in Code situation (ex. Code Blue).
- Communicates with patients, families, physicians, staff and community partners.
- Observing and recording patient behaviour. Evaluates patient outcomes.
- Competent operation of medical equipment.
- Performing diagnostic tests within scope of practice
- Safely administering medications and treatments.
HOURS OF WORK: Ability to work all shifts, weekends and holidays.
Salary: As per ONA salary scale
Terms of Employment: Temporary Full-Time
