Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance

The Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance was formed on July 1, 2003 as a partnership between Listowel Memorial Hospital and Wingham and District Hospital. We share a common management structure with one CEO. We have a commitment to partnership and common Mission, Vision and Values. The Alliance Board consists of both hospital boards combined. We look for opportunities to create and share services and programs across our two communities and to look for creative ways to link to our community partners.

The Listowel Memorial Hospital has been providing acute care and complex continuing care services to the residents of North Perth and the hospital’s catchment area since 1919. Our fully accredited hospital offers a wide range of primary and secondary services including 24-hour emergency services. In-patient and out-patient care, specialist clinics and supportive diagnostic services. The Hospital has an active staff of 10 Family Practitioners as well as several consultant staff.

Hospital services include:

  • Emergency, Operating Rooms, Diagnostic and Ambulatory Care Units (December 2007)
  • Maternal/Newborn Unit
  • Diabetes/Nutrition Counseling
  • Speech-Language
  • Physiotherapy
  • Breast Health Centre
  • Fully integrated electronic patient health record with Family Health Team and Physician offices.

The Wingham and District Hospital is a modern, progressive acute care facility providing medical, surgical, obstetrical, paediatric, chronic and rehabilitation bed and other services, including 24-hour emergency coverage.

Hospital services include:

  • Emergency department with 24-hour on-call coverage
  • Rehabilitation department including physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech language pathology
  • Multiple outpatient specialist clinics held on a regular basis to provide local service
  • Affiliation with London Regional Cancer Centre enabling chemotherapy treatment to be provided locally
  • Many community health related education programs
  • Fully integrated electronic patient health record with Family Health Team and Physician offices.


Position:  Radiology Technologist

Region:  Huron and Perth

Description:  The Registered DI Technologist is responsible for the safe, effective and efficient performance of a variety of procedures which will provide information to diagnose patient illnesses by operating radiologic equipment to produce radiographs. The MRT will use independent judgement, ingenuity and initiative in the application of ionizing radiation.

This is a temporary, part-time position that is anticipated to begin June 3, 2026 and extend through July 31, 2027. The successful candidate will have the ability to work rotating shifts, holidays, weekends and on call as required. This position is available immediately.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Radiologists with administration of contrast media, special procedures or is responsible for delegated areas of authority in performance of procedures.
  • Correlates clinical history with the examination and the appropriateness of the procedure required.
  • Documents any unusual occurrences, incidents and difficulties involving patients, staff, physicians, or equipment and take appropriate action
  • Excellent verbal, written and computer skills
  • Maintain adequate records and files of work performed
  • Preparation and education of patient as to the procedures they are to receive. Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties, providing explanations of treatments; answering questions.
  • Process radiographs and determines the acceptance and/or rejection of each radiograph and records the result in accordance with Quality Acceptance procedures
  • Transfers and positions the patient, immobilizes or assists as required with consideration of the patient’s ability to respond to instructions
  • Minimize radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices patient shielding and knowledge of exposure factors
  • When a technologist is responsible for a specific area/function in the department he/she will ensure:
    • A check and review the work and/or the equipment for correctness and thoroughness as necessary
    • An adequate inventory of supplies to ensure uninterrupted service
    • Training and educating other staff in diagnostic imaging and in other areas of the hospital of changes
    • Technical charts, quality assurance, procedure and other manuals are produced and continually updated
    • Ensures operation of radiology equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Contributes to a team working environment by assisting wherever it is needed or required

Qualifications: 

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiology Program
  • Current registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (C.M.R.I.T.O.)
  • Preferred registration with Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (C.A.M.R.T.) and/or the Ontario Association of Medical Radiation Sciences (OAMRS )
  • Specialty roles:
  • CT Technologist
    • Considered an asset to have CT Imaging Certificate (CAMRT)
    • IV Competency
  • Mammographer
    • Considered an asset to have Certificate in Breast Imaging (CBI)
    • Skill set required for CAR accreditation
  • Relevant clinical experience is preferred
  • Skill set may be required to be expanded to support the needs to the role and the schedule
  • Moderate/high degree of physical effort
  • High degree of mental effort and analysis


Salary:  $41.35 - $51.66 per hour

Terms of Employment:  Temporary, part-time
