Service Description: Provides public health services that promote health and prevent disease for area residents through all of life's stages * staff support and encourage people to make healthy choices, and work with the community to ensure that public health standards are being met in the areas of parental/child health, chronic disease and injury prevention, communicable diseases, sexual health, environmental health, dental health, epidemiological investigation, and practical public health research and evaluation * enforces various provincial acts and regulations, such as food safety and smoking
 
Early Years - Offers a variety of child and family health information and services * information about pregnancy, breastfeeding, parenting and dental health * public health programs for pregnant or postpartum mothers and families with young children
 
Healthy Living and Safety - Information for individuals to achieve a healthy and safe lifestyle
 
Immunization Clinics - Publicly funded vaccines such as the influenza vaccine are available free of charge:
 
Oral Health - Free preventive dental hygiene services available at 3 clinic locations (St. Thomas, Aylmer, West Lorne) * access screening, dental hygiene treatment, oral hygiene education and possible referral to a dentist through our programs "Healthy Smiles Ontario" and "CINOT (Children In Need Of Treatment)" * Treatment may include: cleaning (dental scaling), selective polish, fluoride treatments, dental sealants and oral hygiene instruction
 
Prenatal, Postpartum and Early Childhood Programs - Public health programs for pregnant or postpartum mothers and families with young children
 
Safe Water - Monitors all community drinking water systems, public bathing beaches and provides information on water quality testing and potential health effects
 
Sexual Health - Sexual health services and information
